So I had high expectations for Thanksgiving. Not anything in particular, just that it would be a great holiday and weekend. (Everything with Rachel is fun.) It was! It was! It stopped raining long enough for everyone to enjoy the Turkey Bowl annual flag football game down at the park. The food was yummy and didn't disappoint, although I could probably try some new recipes next year. The kids got along great. The dogs got along great (definetely!!) except when Zoe dared sniff Rio's water and food bowls! She learned quickly that Rio is an alpha male! Haha, anyway, for 2 dogs that didn't know each other they did great. There were lots of video games for the kids and even adults (Wii boxing is very theraputic, I'm told.) We played Air Hockey, too. We watched some fun movies like Jingle All the Way, Christmas with the Kranks, and Money Pit.
Rachel's oldest son, Chandler, turned 15 while they were here, so we celebrated his birthday with pool, bowling, and a football cake. We found his birth announcement so we measured him to see how much he's grown since he was born. When I find our measuring tape I'll see how high the mark was on the wall and let ya know! They decided to stay Saturday and go home Sunday, which was awesome for us, although this morning they're probably dreading their week ahead without a day of rest.

We saw how many Tom Hanks (my FAVORITE actor) and Tom Cruise movies we could name and then Googled their movies to see what we missed. It's harder than it seems, try it! I want to try it with some other actors (maybe Harrison Ford or Tim Allen), but those two are the ones that we thought we could do best at, and still missed several obvious movies. (I forgot Money Pit, one of my all-time favorite Tom Hanks movies!) Mark, Rachel's husband, acted out movie titles we didn't have. His performance of the Risky Business scene where Tom Cruise slides across the floor with wearing only a dress shirt and socks was pretty funny! He was not in costume, in case you were wondering...
I've never seen so much junk food--even for a Hosch household it was a lot. Ice cream, apple pie, cherry pie, pumpkin pie, pumpkin cheesecake, doughnuts, sodas, hamburgers and fries complete with milkshakes, chocolate fudge, peanut butter fudge, birthday cake, pancakes, and pizza...WOW. There's still a sugary smell in the air. The funny thing is that Rachel and her family really don't eat much junk.
Time goes by too quickly when we get together. The minute Rachel and her family left we were all sad and missed them. Ken, who barely sat down the whole week, took a very long and well-deserved nap. He's sure a worker.
Thanksgiving 2008 is now a memory; I hope all of you have your own great memories and I'm already looking forward to next year!

We all had an awesome time! We were sad to leave the minute we pulled out :(
Thank you SO much for opening up your home and letting us stay. I wish we could visit "permanently", as Ken says!
We ate SO much while we were there! Holy cow! Even Chandler kept saying that there was a lot of food! Loved the fudge...I plan on making some now that I know the "secret" recipe!
You guys are awesome, it's amazing how well everyone got along...kids, and yes...dogs! We are like family...OK, well, maybe not, since I know some families don't get along as well as we all do! LOL!!!
Hey Cyndi! I've been good, how've you been? Well, since you haven't seen me since my last wedding I have since remarried and I have twin girls Sadie & Grace. My husband, Dave, and I live in Laveen right now. He works at Chapman Chevy on Mcklintock & Baseline. I just got my real estate lisence along with me mom hopefully to make a little extra money and help my dad out. He's a broker down in Gila Bend. Life is good. I cannot believe how your boys have grown. I guess I still expect them to be little boys cause that's how I saw them last. We can only hope to have a boy. Seeing as how on his side of the family there are nothing but little girls running around (most of them are 2), I'm not holding my breath. It was good hearing from you. Keep in touch!
